Rock
Climbing/Abseiling
We can offer basic taster sessions for full or half days at local venues
ideal for this such as amazing Limestone quarries or Sandstone
outcrops. Alternatively if people have done this and want to learn
more we can offer more in depth instruction at the same venues
or further afield such as the Beautiful Gower Peninsular.
Canoeing
Canoe trips are in the larger Canadian style open deck boats and can
be based on the local river Wye for short journeys or on local canals
for skills coaching or if river levels are too high.
Mountain
Walking
The Brecon Beacons National Park and the Black Mountains contain some
of the best walking routes in the UK as frequently confirmed by magazines
such as Trail and TGO. Walks vary from big days out such as the Pen
Y Fan circuit to shorter walks on smaller peaks or valley based around
hidden waterfall gems of the area.
UK
based Expeditions
Backpacking expeditions from two to multi day trips can be arranged
in South Wales or further afield and can include training in planning
and organisation or can be simply arranged and lead by us. Duke of
Edinburgh expeditions can be arranged and all staff here have experience
of working with D of E students.
Caving
South Wales is one of the countries major caving regions and contains
some of the largest and most beautiful caves. Caving trips can be aimed
at novices or experienced cavers. Novice trips will start with nice
large easy passages and may increase in difficulty depending on how
clients cope. There will never be any section to get stuck in and there
is always a way around the small sections. Have a go at the classic ‘letterbox’ squeeze,
the corkscrew, the wormhole, then a trip down the slightly damp ‘washing
machine’.
Gorge
Scrambling
The South Wales gorges are wide and varying, scramble up waterfalls
with towering limestone cliffs on both sides, traverse across and
jump off 25ft waterfalls in the remote Mellte gorge or abseil down
multiple waterfalls in South Wales own Canyon. Ghyll scrambling
in the Lake District or Yorkshire can also be offered as part of
a package of activities elsewhere.
Orienteering
There are many permanent courses in South Wales which cover mountainous
areas and forests. Instruction and progression can build people up
to competing or simply some fun courses can be set up. Temporary
courses can be set up anywhere to meet all requirements.
Raft
Building
Raft building can be an ideal half day activity to link in with others
to get a group of people working together as a team. It will be based
on short sections of water and the team simply will be provided with
equipment and asked to build a raft. Complexity can vary depending
on the groups needs as to what equipment is provided or how they
gain it and also if the raft has to get somewhere to complete the
challenge. This could include a short river journey.
Team Building
Team building events can be arranged for companies or smaller organisations
and can be simple thought provoking tasks that can increase in
difficulty to cover all aspects of working efficiently as a team
to large events linking problem solving tasks that if completed
give directions to the next venue such as an abseil, which would
then lead to a cave to find a clue for the next venue etc.
Canyoning
This can be linked in with a trip to the Vercours region of France
which has some of the most awesome canyons in the world. These
are committing descents down narrow canyon slots following the
water, either jumping off the drops or abseiling down the falls.
